Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., knocked Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., for comparing a recent House Oversight Committee hearing – that left Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., butting heads – to The Jerry Springer Show.
Fetterman shared a CNN article on X, formerly Twitter, describing the details of the fight and wrote, “In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today, I’m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.”
The hearing descended into chaos after Greene attacked Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, saying she was wearing “fake eyelashes.” The comments immediately drew outrage from Ocasio-Cortez who criticized Greene for her remarks and demanded she apologize.
In response to Fetterman’s comments, Ocasio-Cortez wrote that she stands up to bullies.
“I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one. And to the women of Pennsylvania: I’d stand up for you too. Enjoy your Friday.”
